Ch. Vigilat's Perse Pebble Sam
SAM
A dream came true with him. We had to wait quite a long time for this dog - but this feeling of great happiness when we were allowed to take him home is unforgettable.
Sam loved all kinds of games. Obedience, Agility or Trials (he had to search where we put his toys and bring them by order) - he was always first. Of course he also had his very cool side - that conjures a smile on your face. For example - at Fun-Agility he had a little rest in the middle of a concrete tube - just because it was so nice and cool in there- and it was a hot summer day. Or during little games when the owner has to tell what kind of food is underneath several buckets going by the reaction of his dog. Sam just moved the bucket and ate all the food. Of course the idea was only to sniff at the bucket but he never thought of this solution. He was something very special.
We could not breed or show Sam, because he had only one testicle. But the decision was already made in our hearts. We had travelled three times to the Netherlands to see our prospective puppy and just felt totally in love with him. He really was a dog of the heart - at shows he always had a lot of admirers - even if he not was in the ring alongside his girls Kay and Yazzy. He had a kind of aura about him that attracted everyone. Sam had his own fan club.
This photo shows Sam on a winter walk. He loved to stand in the wind and to have it blow right across him. He liked the windswept look. Even today when there is a big windstorm we think this is SAM's weather. In letting the wind caress our faces we remember him and so he touches us once more.

Sam
Sam was the sunshine dog. He found everything great and was always part of it. He had a really happy nature and his happiness was contagious. Sometimes Sam was very ebullient and very hard to control but then he was the big softie.
Sept. 1999 - Forever in our Hearts
With him our dream came true. He was our “Smaus” a Super-mouse-Bear.
He was always in happy mode and ready for action. He loved to work and to please us.
Sam probably was the best trained dog we have ever owned. He fascinated everyone, was the star for the spectators at the dog shows, even if he was only our Mascot. At the Swiss Club Match he was awarded several times the Challenge Cup for best Amateur.
A rascal we learned so much from.
