Introduction

The main reason for a dog show is primarily to show dogs of various breeds to a broad audience.
Besides the beauty contest there are often other events such as agility, flyball etc
In the main ring are presentations such as Dancing to Music (with dogs), Rescue dogs and Junior Handling.

By late afternoon, when all the breeds have been judged, different competitions are held in the main ring. Often the Best Puppy and Junior dogs of all breeds are in competition with each other. There are breeding groups progeny groups and brace classes presented.
Particularly impressive is the veteran competition, where dogs aged over 7 years can compete.

The individual breeds are assigned to groups. The FCI has 10 groups. The Old English Sheepdog belongs to group 1 (Pastoral Group in the UK). Group winners are chosen and later allowed to participate in the competition for Best in Show.

There are of course also a wide spectrum of exhibitors and visitors to the show. Various stalls and breed club stands with special items for dog lovers fulfil the picture.

The exhibition provides the breeder with an opportunity to show his dogs in competition with others. An exchange between the breeders and exhibitors is nice and important.

The detailed written report on each dog is the personal opinion of the judge and is in addition to the
Qualifications - the grading which is given to each dog. Individual Judges Reports will be issued in many European countries but are not usually given in the UK or Luxembourg.

The breed is usually assessed by one single judge. The dogs are divided into different classes - depending on their sex , age, or their qualifications.

Firstly all the male classes will be judged and when they are finished it's time to choose Best Male. Then it will be the turn of the bitch classes and when these are completed the Best Bitch is selected. Depending on the show format there may be competitions for best Puppy and Junior in the Breed, and also Best Veteran.

For the Final the highest honour will be given - the award for Best of Breed. The BOB (Best of Breed) is invited to go into the ring of honour - the main Ring to go against the other Best of Breed winners from the same group. This takes place after all the different breed judging is completed.

Only with dogs, who love to show are you able to win. After judging our dogs will be greatly praised and it seems they are also pleased about the reaction of their owner. So it can happen that our show dog will roll about on the floor or do a jump of joy. They enjoy being the focus of attention of course also get a lot of attention from visitors who talk to them and pet them.

Only one can win - and there is only one First place. But no matter if you have won or not - everybody can be pleased to take the best dog home in the evening. The one they brought to the show that morning.
